Leg hair removal with Veet

There are lots of at-home methods for leg hair removal including shaving, waxing and depilatory creams (or electric shavers). Whether you need a fast hair removal solution on busy days, or long lasting smoothness when you’ve got time to indulge, there’s a Veet solution for you.

Everyone is different but you might find the hair on your upper legs is finer than it is on your lower legs. If this is the case you may decide to opt for half leg hair removal instead of full leg hair removal. Just remember, deciding to remove your leg hair is completely your choice, as is your preferred method. Let’s a take a closer look at some of the most popular leg hair removal techniques.

Shaving

Shaving your legs is quick and inexpensive. The downside is that hair can regrow quite quickly and there’s a risk of nicks and cuts. Shaving can also cause skin irritation, so if you have sensitive skin you may want to consider if this is the right leg hair removal method for you.

Hair Removal Creams

Hair removal or ‘depilatory’ creams are quick, painless and easy to use. Plus, smoothness can last up to twice as long as shaving. Veet Hair Removal Creams have a soft floral fragrance*1 and contain moisturising ingredients for even more beautiful skin. With Veet hair removal creams you can get rid of leg hair in only 3 to 6 minutes.*2

Tip: Try our in-shower hair removal cream to  save even more time.

*1 Synthetic Fragrance.

*2 The time may vary depending on the product variant - Depilatory creams for normal and dry skin: 3 to 6 minutes. Depilatory creams for Sensitive Skin: 5 to 10 minutes. Be sure to observe the precautions for use and the times of use indicated on the instructions. Always do a patch test.

Waxing

For longer lasting smoothness, waxing your legs is a great choice. With Veet’s range of cold and warm wax products you can achieve perfect results at home.

Cold Wax

If you’re looking for a fast and ready-to-use hair removal solution, why not try Veet Cold Wax Strips? The range caters for all skin types and includes a number of variations specially formulated for normal and sensitive skin. Our cold wax strips are a good option if you are waxing at home for the first time because they are super easy to use. Also, you won’t have to wait for your hair to grow longer as they are effective on hair as short as 1.5mm.

Tip: Use the perfect finish wipe or apply baby oil to your legs post wax. As well as moisturising your skin this will help clean up any residual wax on your legs.

Warm Wax

If you have a little more time to pamper yourself you may want to try one of our warm waxes. For full leg hair removal, take extra care when waxing your thighs. The skin on the inside of your upper legs can be more sensitive than your lower leg, so make sure the wax is applied thinly and evenly and pull the skin taught before removing the wax. Always follow the usage instructions carefully.

Tip: Your legs should be clean and dry before applying warm wax. A little talcum powder will absorb excess moisture and make it easier for the wax to stick to your hair.

The dos and don’ts of leg hair removal

Take note of the following beauty tips for impeccable results when removing leg hair:

  • Do a patch test

You should always patch test before using any hair removal product. Apply and remove the product to a small section of your leg, following the directions for use. If after 24 hours there is no adverse reaction, you can continue to use the product normally.

  • Exfoliate the day before

Regardless of which hair removal method you use, preparation is the key to beautifully smooth legs. Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin and can reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs. You should exfoliate the day before, paying particular attention to areas such as your knees where hair removal can be a little more awkward. If you are planning to wax your legs, exfoliating will ensure you get the best results possible because it helps the wax to stick directly on to the hair, rather than your skin.

  • Take a warm shower or bath before hair removal

Make sure the water temperature is nice and warm; this will help with hair removal by opening your pores and softening the hair on your legs. Just ensure the water isn’t too hot as this could dehydrate your skin and make it more sensitive post hair removal.

  •  Remove any excess product

If you have waxed your legs use our Veet Perfect Finish Wipes, or a clean cloth and baby oil to remove any residue wax. Alternatively, if you have used a hair removal cream, rinse your legs thoroughly with cool water.

  • Check for strays

Check in the light to make sure you haven’t missed any hair, paying special attention to tricky areas such as your knees. You don’t want to notice you’ve missed a spot once you’re out and about!

  • Moisturise

Once you’ve finished your leg hair removal apply a gentle moisturiser to your legs, making sure you focus on any dry areas. Try not to use any heavily perfumed products straight after leg hair removal as this could irritate your skin. If you have waxed your legs, you should avoid perfumed products for at least 24 hours. Why not try moisturising your legs at night before going to bed? You will start your day with incredibly soft legs!
